Students at Greater Lowell Technical High School created graphic designs for the Safe Sleep initiative, and students Sarah Gorski and Ashley Tran's designs were chosen to appear in brochures and posters across Middlesex County to help educate the public about "best practices" for keeping infants and young children safe.
District Attorney Ryan created the "Safe Babies, Safe Kids" campaign in response to the need for a comprehensive approach to child injury and fatality prevention and wellness efforts. The initiative grew out of the Middlesex Shaken Baby Task Force and the Middlesex Child Fatality Review Team and expands the focus to include all types of preventable death and injury to infants and children.
"Safe Babies, Safe Kids" is an innovative partnership between the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, local law enforcement organizations, social service agencies, and medical care providers who meet quarterly to share data, assess risk factors, discuss strategies for intervention and prevention, and make recommendations of best practices to keep children safe.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office (MDAO) serves the largest county in New England, covering 54 diverse cities and towns. We prosecute more than 39,000 cases a year in 12 district courts, 4 juvenile courts, and 2 superior courts. The MDAO’s core mission is to protect and serve the people who work, live and raise their families in Middlesex County. Assistant District Attorneys, Victim Witness Advocates, Paralegals and other talented professionals pursue this mission through exhaustive investigations, unassailable prosecutions and compassionate victim advocacy.
The office is also committed to innovative crime prevention and intervention initiatives. Collaborations have been established with community groups, social service providers, medical professionals, private industry leaders and law enforcement officers to address a variety of public safety issues.
