CAMBRIDGE– An Arlington couple was arraigned today on charges related to providing alcohol to minors, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public today.

Anne LaCourt, 54, of Arlington, and Mark Burstein, 58, were arraigned in Cambridge District Court on charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor (33 counts).  They were arraigned earlier this week in Cambridge Juvenile Court on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor (three counts).  Cambridge District Court Judge Michele Hogan released the defendants on personal recognizance.

The defendant’s next court date is January 30, 2013 for a pre-trial hearing.

It is alleged that LaCourt and Burstein hosted a party at their house on October 19, 2012.  At this party, the defendants allegedly provided alcohol to 33 minors, including three who were 16 years of age.

According to authorities, police witnessed young people leaving the residence of LaCourt and Burstein carrying plastic cups, some appearing to be under the influence of alcohol.  When officers approached the house they heard loud music blaring and observed that the house was full of teenagers drinking from plastic cups and beer cans.

It is alleged that both LaCourt and Burstein were present and walking around the upstairs and the basement of their house, where the party and the underage drinking were taking place.  There was no indication that the students had brought the alcohol to the party.

These charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The case was investigated by the Arlington Police Department.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Christopher Minue.  The Victim Witness Advocate is Kaitlyn Mabee.
