DA Leone joined Lieutenant Governor Murray, DA Conley and college hockey coaches, team captains, and athletic directors from the four Boston Beanpot Tournament colleges and universities (Boston College, Boston University, Harvard University, and Northeastern University) January 23 at the State House to take a stand against violence against women.

DA Leone, a former co-chair of the White Ribbon Campaign, spoke at the event urging young men to take a stand on domestic violence and violence against women.

“As the former chair of the White Ribbon Campaign, I know firsthand how effective it is to involve young men as part of our collective voice to address the very real problem of domestic and teen dating violence, and the White Ribbon Campaign works to help ensure that men are actively engaged in reinforcing a proactive approach to maintaining a positive climate of healthy relationships," Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said. “I commend the Governor and Lt. Governor for their commitment to stand with us, united in our declaration to end violence against women."

Today’s event was part of the White Ribbon Campaign, which is an international initiative coordinated effort led by men working to end violence against women.
