Elisee Myrthil, 27, of Hyde Park, was arraigned today in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on charges of assault to rape and indecent assault and battery.  Middlesex Superior Court Assistant Clerk Magistrate Matthew Day ordered the defendant held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for March 12, 2012.

According to authorities, on November 11, 2011, at approximately 2:02 am, Cambridge Police and security at the Cambridgeside Galleria responded to a report of a woman yelling for help.  When police arrived at the location, there was no sign of the victim.

Authorities launched an immediate investigation into the incident.  Authorities obtained copies of surveillance video from the Galleria the night of the alleged incident.  The video allegedly depicts the defendant, who worked as a security guard for a security company that works in the buildings around the Cambridgeside Galleria, walking with the victim towards the rear entrance of the Galleria after turning from Thorndike Street in Cambridge.  As the defendant and the victim neared the rear doors of the Galleria, the video shows the defendant allegedly grab the victim, force her on to her back on a table and sexually assault her.  The victim was able to get up and the defendant is alleged to have walked with her and pushed her down again onto another table.  When the victim was able to get up again, the defendant allegedly threw the victim to the ground and sexually assaulted her again.  The video shows a female witness enter the area with the defendant fleeing the scene.

The victim was able to walk to a nearby hotel where staff contacted police.  The victim was transported to Cambridge Hospital later that day where she was treated for her injuries.

The defendant was arrested on November 13, 2011 and arraigned on November 14, 2011 where he was ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing.  On November 17, the defendant was ordered held without bail following a dangerousness hearing.   He was indicted by a Middlesex County grand jury on February 16.
