Somerville High sophomore earns top PSA honor

Somerville High School has earned top honors in a public service announcement contest for a video created by sophomore Desi Feldman. The video was selected from among 52 submitted for the annual PSA Project, which is offered through a joint effort of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and the nonprofit Middlesex Partnerships for Youth. This year’s theme was “Write the Story You Want to Tell.” Feldman’s video, “Defeat Stress,” portrays a student successfully fighting back against menacing figures representing stress, anxiety, and pessimism. Another Somerville High School video — “Be A Friend,” by junior Michelle Magalhaes-Teixeria, also was chosen a finalist. The other three finalists were from Woburn, Malden, and Melrose.
